Some common questions asked about FGF

Q: Where do I find the Ferny Grove Flyers field?
A: We fly as guests of the Ferny Districts Cricket Club on the cricket grounds behind the Ferny Grove Bowls club. See the Location page for details.

Q: When do you fly?
A: There are no set flying times or days.  The most likely time to find members flying is early on a Sunday morning if it is both calm and fine (about 7am)

Q: Do you fly on any other days/times?
A: Club Members are able to fly on other days and times in accordance with the rules.  Members often fly on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.

Q: Can I check the weather conditions at Ferny Grove before coming to the field?
A: The Ferny Grove Weather site is a good indicator of the local weather at Ferny Grove as the weather station used is only about 1km from the field.

Q: When is it too windy for flying?
A: If the local weather station is indicating average wind speed in excess of 4km/h with gusts greater than 8-10km/h then it is likely too windy for flying

Q: What type of aircraft do you fly?
A: As per our rules only electric powered aircraft less than 2kg flying weight are flown.  They must be NON FPV but can be fixed or rotary wing (heli/drone)
